2025 ARIBA BILLIARDS AND SNOOKER COMPETITION

The NSW State Team were the Runners Up of the Australian Railway Institutes Snooker & Billiards Championships held at West Adelaide Football Club - Richmond, Adelaide in 2025.

The NSW Team were relegated to Runners Up in the Dunkling Bowl this year with Queensland prevailing. The Queenslanders proved too strong after they had bolstered their team with the multiple championship winner Robbie Chilcott heading north permanently. The Victorian team ran third with the Australian National team (Sth Australia & Tasmania combined) in fourth place.

The competition was hosted at the West Adelaide Football club in Richmond, Adelaide. The tables for the week for hard but fair and kept all players on their toes. The snooker room, tables, catering and the staff at the venue were all first class and ensured a great week was had by all. We thank the AN team for looking after us during our time at the competition.

This year, the Teams Competition was again a close and hard-fought competition. NSW and Queensland met on the final night to decide the winner with Queensland coming out on top 9-7.

There were several close matches which could have turned the result either way. Our team continued on from where we left off last year and fought all the way to the end.

The NSW Team player award was given to Marko Cajna who was on debut for us and performed very well winning some very important matches. He was closely followed by Nathan White and Wayne Brown who both had successful weeks.

The Individual Snooker championship was won by Nathan White in an all-NSW final with Wayne Brown being the runner up. The Billiards Championship was won by the Robbie Chilcott in an all-Queensland final with Jim Wicks being the runner-up.

By unanimous choice Margaret Conomy of Victoria, won the McKain/McLoughlin Encouragement Award.
