ANZRI Golf Carnival 2025

The NSWRI hosted the 2025 ANZRI Golf Carnival at Canberra from Sunday 30 March until Friday 11 April 2025.

It was a very successfully run Carnival on and off the courses played, and all the activities including the official dinners to the Carnival day out held at Lake George Winery all attendees thoroughly enjoyed themselves during there stay, we were very lucky with the weather and the outstanding courses that Canberra had to offer.

Another highlight was being able to attend the Last Post ceremony at the War Memorial, and Ray James from NSWRI and Paul Johns from NZRI who were very honoured to place a wreath on the day, and thanks to all who contributed during the Carnival towards the $5300 which was raised for the Men’s Prostate Cancer Charity.

The NSWRI team all contributed over the (3) Championship rounds, and by doing so taking home the Merv Bourke Trophy, (Runner up) best teams nett with a total team nett score of (1823)

Congratulations to the (VRI), Victorian Railway Institute who Won the Carnival taking home the ( Commissioners Shield & Tintara Cup) best team gross (2116), well done. NSWRI players that took home additional trophies were: • Gavin Moore (Captain NSWRI) Nett Champion – with a total of 219 nett. • Fred Aliendi – B Grade Champion (273 gross) – and Super Vets over 65 – 69 nett. Well done, Gents, and to the entire NSW team great effort. Rail V's Bus Golf Day 2025

The Institutes held their Annual Golf Day at Cabramatta Golf Club on Monday 5th May 2025. 36 Golfers were welcomed with a breakfast of Bacon & Egg rolls before hitting off at 8.00am.

The weather was kind to us with a nice temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. During the day we were looked after with refreshments from WageCover and RT Health.

After the round we all met back in the Clubhouse for lunch and to tally the scores for the day. The best (8) stableford scores were calculated and at the end of the day the Rail Institute came out winners (262), defeating the Bus Institute (253) by (9) points taking home the Rail vs Bus Trophy for 2025. Rail best score was from Dennis Kalamaras with 41 points, well done. The Buses best score was 38 points, well done.

Thank you to all participants who turned up on the day, hope to see you again next year.

Thanks again to our sponsors who participated and support us time and time again, being the Australian Mutual Bank, Wage Cover and RT Health always appreciated.

Regards Peter Nicholson
