Ten Pin Bowling
50th ARI Tenpin Bowling Tournament Results – Wyncity Keon Park, Vic 2025.
The competition kicked off with a strong start from NSWRI and VRI. By lunch on Day 1, NSWRI led with 57 points, closely followed by VRI with 53 points, while defending champions QLD lagged behind at 34 points. As Day 1 progressed (8 games completed), VRI gained a narrow lead over NSWRI, ending the day with 111 points against NSWRI's 101 points and QRI's 76 points. VRI bowlers dominated the high games across individual and team categories.
On Day 2, the halfway point saw VRI extend their lead to 28.5 points over NSWRI, with QRI trailing further behind by 21 points. However, NSWRI rallied after lunch, narrowing VRI's lead to just 1.5 points. Outstanding performances from NSWRI's four teams energized the competition, making it feel less a matter of "if" and more of "when" NSWRI would overtake VRI. At this stage, QRI remained 42 points behind VRI. Remarkably, in Game 11, NSWRI Team N4 achieved the high team scratch game, Kayleen Watts of NSW delivered the tournament's high handicap game with 305 points, and David Latimore of NSW scored the high scratch game with 279 points.
Day 3 opened well for VRI, who by lunchtime had established a commanding 34.5-point lead with only four games to go. Their momentum
mirrored Day 1's strong performance. QLD also gained ground, sitting 24 points behind NSWRI. Ultimately, VRI sealed their victory with a 38.5-point margin over NSWRI, earning their first ARI Tenpin Bowling Tournament win in 11 years. The final scores were VRI with 328 points, NSWRI with 290 points, and QRI with 245.5 points. NSW bowler Josh Vanderkolk marked the tournament's high scratch game of 280 in Game 24.
This milestone victory was particularly meaningful for VRI, as they celebrated their 50th anniversary with this win during the tournament’s 50th anniversary. NSWRI looks forward to hosting the next tournament in March 2026 at Gosford Bowl.
